PELLIMER SE2
> SCHOCKPROOF AND CORROSION PREVENTIVE THIXOTROPIC STRIPPABLE PROTECTION
PELLIMER SE/2 is a strippable protective compound which provides good resistance to acid and alkaline chemical agents, in combination with a high resistance to shocks. It is formulated to be applied easily by various means, by dipping, classic or «airless» spraygun. The fast drying, at an ambient temperature, facilitates the application operations. Unlike classic strippable protectives, the dry film is non-light-ageing (ultraviolet).
- PELLIMER SE/2 is thixotropic; this property, allied to the rapid drying of the film, allows the application of sufficient thickness by one single pass with a spray gun. The viscosity has been designed to allow immediate application without dilution. The product is non-flammable andcontains chlorinated solvents; it is completely free of benzene and allied products, such as toluene and xylene.
- PELLIMER SE/2 is intended for the protection of metallic surfaces, steel, aluminium alloys, etc., during manufacturing, assembly, chemical or mechanical operations, during transport or storage. According to the destination and the conveying of the parts, the film thickness may be adjusted between about 50 and 100 microns for one coat and up to 200 microns for two coats, during transport for instance or for an optimal resistanc to surface treatment baths (hot alkaline degreasing, chromic baths, etc.).
- For particular applications, PELLIMER SE/2 may be used on protections already existing on metals, without losing its stripping qualities and without damaging the underlying protections.
- Thus PELLIMER SE/2 is compatible with films PROPACO: R and SC. The case may be considered for instance when, for a first operation, a dry, hard and thin film is wanted (mechanical operation phase), followed by a transport phase requiring a supple, thick and strippable film.
- The film of PELLIMER SE/2 offers an excellent protection against bad weather: aggressive vapours and fumes, acid or alkaline aqueous liquids, even hot ones; on the other hand, it is sensitive to solvents in particular to chlorinated or aromatic hydrocarbons.
The surfaces to be protected must be cleaned and degreased with solvent cleaners (DIESTONE for example). PELLIMER SE/2 must be mixed up slowly for homogenising, in case of prolonged storage. Check homogeneity before use.
The product should be applied pure in crossed layers, the spray gun 35 to 40 cm away from the substrate. The PELLIMER SE/2's thixotropy allows the application of about 50 to 250 microns per coat. Required drying interval between layers: 15 minutes.
The application methods :
- By dipping, 2 or 3 coats, at 15 minutes interval, according to the final thickness wanted.
- With a classic paint-gun, use a 22 nozzle without jet bursting, with a 5 to 7 bars pressure.
- AIRLESS spray guns (for instance, AIRLESS KREMLIN, pump 30-35 provided with a MD240 gun) may also be used, in particular for large surfaces.
The cleaning of the application apparatus may be done with chlorinated solvents or DIESTONE cleaning diluents.
For a long term protection in difficult conditions, a thickness in excess of 300 microns is recommended.
