SOCOMASK PS4

> CHEMICAL MILLING MASKANT

SOCOMASK PS4 is a hand-peelable protective coating for surface protection during aluminium or titanium chemical milling.

This product has been specially formulated to provide the following properties and advantages:

  • Very easy application by means of conventional spraying systems (airless or pneumatic) or by dipping.
  • The thickness deposited per layer is optimised; only two layers can be sufficient in some cases.
  • Exceptional chemical resistance which offers a solution to most chemical protection problems: alkaline machining bath up to 110°C (230°F), chromic-sulphuric mixture bath, hydrofluoric bath, detergent solution, even with thicknesses of only 150 to 250 dry microns.
  • Resistance to impacts during forming and degreasing processes as well as storage and transport operations.
  • Protection of parts against corrosion and splashes of acid and alkaline chemicals.
  • Resistance to temperature and very easy peeling, even after chemical processing, exposure to bad weather and corrosive atmospheres.

The product can be applied with an airless or pneumatic spray gun, hot or cold, automatically or manually, under normal industrial ambient conditions (temperature 10 to 30°C / 50 to 86°F, 20 to 90 % relative humidity), as well as by dipping.

HOT AIRLESS OR PNEUMATIC SPRAYING

  • Equipment: Graco, Kremlin or Nordson
  • Temperature: 60 to 100°C (140 to 212°F) in the heater
  • Pressure of the pump: 160 to 200 bars
  • Application distance: from about 300 to 700 mm
  • Number of layers: 2 or 3 depending on the thickness required.
  • Drying time between 2 coatings: 15 minutes min.
  • The first coat must be thin: 80 dry microns maximum

COLD AIRLESS OR PNEUMATIC SPRAYING

The same general application conditions as for hot spraying, except for temperature and drying times.

DIPPING

Increase the number of immersions to obtain the required thickness, (250 microns after 3 immersions of 10 seconds each). Minimum drying time between layers: 30 minutes.
