More Information
Description

SOCOSURF TCS COLORED RTU/ SOCOSURF PACS RTU is a 2 steps ready-to-use solution for a visible conversion coating solution for aluminum.

It provides the surface with a robust corrosion protection and paint adhesion and the surface layer remains electrically conductive.

SOCOSURF TCS COLORED RTU is an alternative to Chromium VI solutions for touch-up applications. It’s a trivalent chromium chemistry that creates a visible, purple coating.

SOCOSURF PACS RTU is an optional post-treatment solution that reinforces the SOCOSURF TCS COLORED layer.

Advantages / Benefits

Hexavalent chrome free - REACh compliance

  • Colored solution makes the surface treatment process visible:
    • during the application, to control the process.
    • after application, for quality inspection and damages identification.
  • Provides robust corrosion protection on aluminum alloys sensitive to corrosion.
  • Provides adhesion promotion

The solutions are ready-to-use, do not require any mixing or pH adjustment before use. They are used to locally apply a conversion coating or to locally seal anodized layers for touch-up and repair applications.

SOCOSURF TCS COLORED RTU is available in ready-to-use pen (35 mL) and ready-to-use solution (1L bottle & 5 L jerrican).

SOCOSURF PACS RTU is available in ready-to-use jerrican (200 mL).

Surface Treatment Engineering FAQ

How does SOCOSURF TCS/PACS compare to Cr(VI) treatments?

SOCOSURF TCS/PACS offer comparable corrosion resistance to Cr(VI), meeting 168 hours of salt spray testing (SST) on aluminum alloys like 2024-T3, with compliance to MIL-DTL-81706 standards.

What are the pH, temperature, and concentration requirements?

SOCOSURF TCS operates at pH 3.8-4.0, 35-45°C, with 31-41% concentration. SOCOSURF PACS operates at pH 4.2-5.3, 15-30°C, with 8-12% concentration.

Does SOCOSURF PACS enhance corrosion resistance?

Yes, SOCOSURF PACS enhances corrosion resistance by extending salt spray resistance up to 168 hours on sensitive aluminum alloys.

What maintenance is required for the SOCOSURF TCS/PACS baths?

Regular maintenance includes monitoring pH, concentration, and peroxide levels. Filtration and periodic cleaning of tanks are also necessary. Bath chemistry should be adjusted according to analysis results.

Purchasing / Procurement FAQ

What are the lead times and availability for SOCOSURF TCS/PACS?

Lead times depend on the region, but SOCOSURF products are globally available with support from local distributors.

How do I optimize the reordering process for SOCOSURF products?

Use historical usage data to predict reordering needs, ensure consistent supplier communication, and keep a safety stock based on production demands.

HSE FAQ

Are SOCOSURF TCS and PACS REACh compliant?

Yes, both SOCOSURF TCS and PACS are REACh compliant, free from Cr(VI) and other substances of very high concern (SVHC).

Maintenance & Operations FAQ

What are the bath temperature requirements for SOCOSURF TCS/PACS?

SOCOSURF TCS requires a bath temperature of 35-45°C, while SOCOSURF PACS requires 15-30°C for optimal performance.

How do I prevent hydrogen peroxide degradation in the PACS bath?

To prevent hydrogen peroxide degradation, keep the tank covered when not in use, reduce tank temperature to avoid exceeding 30°C, and minimize agitation.
