Health and Environmental
In 2024, Socomore formalized within its Soco2030 strategy an ambitious roadmap aimed at strengthening its commitment to products and services that, while ensuring high performance, preserve health and the environment. Our ambitions are reflected by a sustainability roadmap.
To reinforce this commitment and ensure a more targeted and relevant approach, the Group has validated an Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Policy (link), effective from September 2025.
This policy is in full alignment with our Socoway framework, our Responsible Care® commitment, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
To achieve this, we're focusing on two priority areas:
- Reduce the health and environmental impact of our products.
- Reduce the health and environmental impact of our processes and operations.
This Health & environment pillar underscores our dedication to minimizing our environmental footprint and promoting well-being.
1. Reduce the health and environmental impact of our products
When designing our products, we prioritize not only technical performance but also the lowest possible health and environmental impact. We ensure our products comply with the latest chemical safety standards, with clear labeling and handling instructions to minimize risks for users and the environment. This commitment is driven by evolving regulatory frameworks (like REACh) and growing stakeholder demand for low-impact solutions.
a. LCA Integration: We integrate LCA into our products, involving stakeholders from conception to end-of-life. Our ambition is to conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) on products representing over 80% of our sales by 2030, comparing them with current products to introduce new solutions with even lower environmental impact by 2050. This approach began with three flagship products in 2023 (Diestone DLS, Diestone DLV, Sococlean Exterior Aircraft cleaner) to identify major impact sources. Actions include optimizing product use, utilizing regenerated solvents, simplifying ingredients, and promoting reusable wipes/packaging.
b. CMR-Free Solutions Development: We actively identify solutions to replace any Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, or Reprotoxic (CMR) substances that could be in our products. Our goal is for over 90% of our sales to come from CMR-free products by 2030. In 2024, 80% of Groupe Socomore chemical solutions delivered were CMR-free.
c. Low impact solutions development: solutions considering the chemicals:
- unlabeled products,
- among the labeled products that are not SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern), the products that meet at least one of the following criteria:
- have a biodegradability rate defined by product range (disinfection, wipes and cleaners, coating, shim, sealants, surface preparation and treatment, NDT or/and
- VOC quantity (Volatile Organic Compounds)
and participating in the reduction of biodiversity impact.
2. Reduce the health and environmental impact of our processes and activities
Socomore is actively committed to reducing its environmental footprint through a robust carbon strategy and eco-design approach. We implement concrete, coordinated actions globally to promote sustainable practices, proactively complying with existing regulations and anticipating future requirements.
a. Carbon Footprint Reduction: we aim for a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 2030. Our climate plan is based on the SBTi (Science-Based Targets initiative) framework. A decarbonization strategy with four key axes is being deployed: eco-design & customer engagement, supplier engagement, process & activities transformation, and Socoboost (non-fossil business development). Decarbonization actions must be done at the site level, as each site has its own specific situation and opportunities for reduction.
b. Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy: Efforts to control energy consumption, particularly gas and produce renewable energy.
c. Identify sources of pollution: improving our processes
d. Waste Management: We strive to reduce, recycle and reuse all generated waste. We also optimize product management and raw material shelf-life to reduce waste generation.
e. Water Management Optimization: initiatives to ensure our commitment to preserving water resources and minimizing environmental impact of our activity.
f. Local Production and Transport Optimization: We maximize production on the same continent, close to our end-users, to reduce transportation emissions and support local economies.
g. Socoboost initiative for Low-Impact Markets: This initiative is specifically designed to explore and capture opportunities in low-impact markets (those generating or using non-fossil energy, focusing on circular economy, or preserving water resources). It is a key driver for achieving our ambition of €25 million in sales from these markets.
h. Occupational Health and Safety: ISO 45 001 is our framework (certification is not mandatory) to make safety social dialogue and sustainable performance integrated across Socomore sites. This globally recognized standard focuses on preventing workplace accidents, reducing occupational risks, and improving working conditions, placing employee well-being at the heart of our operations.
This commitments translate into concrete and specific objectives
