General Requirements:

The Buyer / Planner requires a very high degree of consistency and attention to detail. Under direction of, the fully operational classification receives instructions in general terms, utilizes independent judgment within established procedures and guidelines, and refers some questions and problems to higher levels. This classification requires considerable knowledge of purchasing, production planning, and procurement in order to prepare purchasing orders, documentation for price quotes, and bids.

Specific Requirements:

Education: A college degree is preferred. Less educational achievement will be acceptable with previous experience or military service.

Duties:

  1. Prepares, edits, and maintains purchase orders.
  2. Oversees bidding process and prepares documentation for price quotes and bids.
  3. Processes all orders.
  4. Maintains files and records of materials.
  5. Purchases commodities within assigned limits.
  6. Audits monthly purchasing reports and corrects discrepancies with Quality.
  7. Serves as liaison between internal staff and external agencies and vendors.
  8. Responds to internal and external order inquiries and purchasing policies and procedures.
  9. Updates vendor cost sheets and increase notices.
  10. Production Planning updated daily
  11. Processes MRP and Pull System
  12. Load shop with work orders and picks.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
